Ab ova usque ad mala

About me–from eggs to apples

Ab ova usque ad mala is a Latin phrase which translates “from the eggs right up through the apples”–it is a figure of speech based on the usual order of removes in the Roman dinner, and means “from beginning to end.”

As you may have guessed, I am a classicist. I am not an expert on ancient food, though I do enjoy preparing and eating modern food. I also enjoy observing the use of classical references in modern media, and noting these references is the intended purpose of this blog.

My name is not Jane Quick Pratt, but you can call me that anyway.
