Ab ova usque ad mala is a Latin phrase which translates “from the eggs right up through the apples”–it is a figure of speech based on the usual order of removes in the Roman dinner, and means “from beginning to end.”
As you may have guessed, I am a classicist. I am not an expert on ancient food, though I do enjoy preparing and eating modern food. I also enjoy observing the use of classical references in modern media, and noting these references is the intended purpose of this blog.
